A budget friendly maternity session in a public place could have gone all wrong. Read on to know how did we manage to prevent an upset. This 8th month maternity shoot in Hyderabad was a lesson to learn.
The briefing
This couple found us via Google and briefed us about what they wanted. The mother to be immediately developed a strong connect with us and felt comfortable talking to my spouse (Safia). She was in her 7th month when the expecting mother called us and wanted to understand how do we go about the shoot and what kind of package do we offer. The couple wanted to do the shoot when the expecting mother was in her 8th month in Hyderabad. They wanted to hunt for an ideal location to do the shoot however, was on a tight budget and did not want to book a star hotel or go to a far away resort. They informed us that they would go around the city and get back to us with the location of their preference. The couple wanted a very straight forward shoot with the focus being more on the poses than expensive gowns and props.
Location & Plan
The location chosen by this couple was a tourist spot in the IT hub of Hyderabad — Durgam Cheruvu Lakefront. This public park has recently come up and is managed very well by the authorities. The entry fee and the photography fee is relatively economical. We decided to start the shoot at around 3:30 p.m. so that we could get a good amount of time in the Golden Hour. However, things went bad as the couple did not arrive on time due to bad traffic and we lost a crucial one hour. We finally started the shoot at around 4:30 p.m. and with the help of the external lights we were able to complete the shoot by 6:30 p.m. Light is everything in photography, and it was a big lesson learnt on this day. However, on the positive side we were able to capture some dramatic shots as well which turned out to be nice.
